Project 108 began right here in Tucson just after September 11, 2001. It was founded by well-known, Arizona Ashtanga Yoga teacher, Lisa Schrempp. She wanted to unite yoga practitioners to advocate for peace. That year nearly 75 people joined together at Himmel Park.

Over the past 18 years Project 108 has expanded to three Arizona cities: Tucson, Flagstaff and Phoenix. The organization has supported many incredible causes. Project 108 compliments various international efforts with local initiatives. This year they are raising funds for Father Gregory Boyle’s Homeboy Industries. This Los Angeles based organization is the largest gang intervention, rehab and re-entry program in the world.

The 15th annual yogathon invites participants to raise money by finding sponsors to donate for each Sun Salutation completed. The Tucson event takes place at Himmel Park on Saturday, September 21 at 6:30am. Shaelyn Delgado and Kate Donovan will lead the Sun Salutations.
